Employee Spotlight: Josee Labrecque

The Rimrock Corporation team is made up of many hard working talented individuals with interesting stories to tell. In our Employee Spotlight series, you’ll meet some of these people, learn what they do, and how they keep Rimrock exciting and fun.

Josee Labrecque is a Project Manager for the ERP team. She is originally from La Belle Province – Quebec and relocated to Toronto in January 2017. Prior to working for Rimrock, Josee worked mostly in the manufacturing sector, varying from administration, accounting, and logistics. She had the chance to manage various internal projects, which led her to a career in Project Management.

When Josee isn’t working you can find her playing board games (she even refers to herself as a “Board Gamer”), hiking, kayaking, and cycling. She recently purchased a set of rollerblades so you may even find her rollerblading down the beachfront this summer!

Read on to find out more about Josee.

What do you love most about working at Rimrock & how long have you been here?

I’ve only been here a few months so still in the learning/adapting phase. I have always loved the smaller entrepreneur style companies, I find they are more personable, and you definitely get that here.

What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?

The diversity – I became a project manager mostly for the diversity of the role. There are so many aspects of PM life, so many hats, that you get to tap into various skill sets, whether it be accounting, scheduling, human resource, problem solving… the list goes on – I love it!

What is the number one challenge you face in your role?

Changes! Every project manager’s pet peeve, lol. We work so hard on planning and ensuring that everything goes smoothly and according to schedule. The slightest change can throw a wrench in the wheels so to speak, but you have to learn to roll with the punches and be adaptive.

Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why?

One of the first trips I took with my husband was a Paris/Italy trip. Absolutely loved it! The culture and history of Paris was amazing, but our side trip to Italy was breathtaking. We went to a little area called Cinque Terre – 5 small villages along the coast. No cars, all walking. The food, the wine, the people, the scenery, everything was an experience never to forget.

Tell us a “fun fact” about yourself that your colleagues might not already know.

Halloween freak here! Love Halloween! Where everyone typically has a Christmas village, I have a Halloween one, lol.

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Ah, the Quebecoise in me kicks in here – Poutine, without a doubt, lol. It has to be from Quebec though, even though it is more and more popular and available here, it is just not the same as the original from Quebec.

What TV shows/music/apps are you currently obsessed with right now?

Anything that’s cooking reality TV. I have been watching old episodes of Top Chef Masters lately. It always amazes me what they can do with so few ingredients, in so little time, in out of the ordinary environments.
