This week is a special edition because we shine the spotlight on Jonathan Taub, the president of FIELDBOSS. Before starting his own company, Jonathan worked in advisory and audit at KPMG and a small 9 person accounting firm. Always on the hunt for challenges, he made the leap from Audits and Tax Returns to computer accounting systems when he opened Rimrock Corporation in 1994. After years of growing the business, in 2014, Jonathan lead an exciting new venture when he launched our newest product, FIELDBOSS, a comprehensive software solution for the field service industry.
Jonathan has a curious mind and has a wide variety of interests. When he isn’t busy selling our products and managing the business, he can be found travelling around the world exploring different cities and cultures. Another reason Jonathan loves to travel is because he gets his best work done on those long plane rides, where there’s plenty of uninterrupted time to focus and no internet connection to distract him.

How and when did you come up with the idea for FB?
In 2013 we had a client in the generator service business that needed a maintenance contract scheduling solution so we built a solution in Dynamics CRM 4.0 and integrated the invoicing into Dynamics GP. After that, we realized we were onto something pretty amazing.
What do you love most about working at FB?
It is a nice feeling when a contractor who is really struggling with their own business calls and we have all the answers to get their stress levels down. An even better feeling is when they go-live and tell us how happy they are with the software.
Where is the best place you’ve travelled to and why?
I once went on a 9-hour ice hike through a glacier in Patagonia. That was pretty spectacular. To get away from it all, my favorite place to wander and get lost is Tokyo.
What TV show are you currently obsessed with right now?
Silicon Valley because a there are many parallels in the storyline to what is happening with us at FIELDBOSS.
If you could have a drink with anyone (fictional, alive, dead, famous, non-famous) who would it be and why?
I would have to say, Winston Churchill because I would want to know how he got through certain meetings. Elon Musk would be interesting too. I think I would ask him pretty much the same questions.
